Around the middle of 19th century in USA, average heights showed a little change with industrial revolution.

Increasing urbanisation and industrialisation increased exposure to various types of diseases.

Food prices rose and industrialisation created income inequality in the society that worsened the situation and hence average stature and life expectancy decreased.

Growth of income per capita was positive but there was a lot of income inequality in the society .
