this passage need analysis and break down

The Vision Council, a non-profit trade association, showed that the average American will spend 9 hours per day in front of a technical device. Through a research of 7,000 people, that the association conducted, showed that the screen time is steadily increasing and within the year of 2013, 4% of the people admitted that their screen time was not just 9 hours but was increased to 10 hours per day. “According to the American Optometric Association's (AOA) 2015 American Eye-Q® survey, 41 percent of parents say their kids spend three or more hours per day using digital devices, and 66 percent of kids have their own smartphone or tablet” (AOA, 2020). Between the ages of 5 and 13 a child’s vision continues to change and the main change that a child will have is increased nearsightedness. “It's essential to make comprehensive eye exams a priority each school year to protect children's eye and vision health” (AOA, 2020). The optometrist suggests that the first eye exam is when a child is 6 months old, then 3 years of age and then every year after.

The vision strain with much viewed technology will therefore cause supply and demand within the optical retail stores. The Future of Optometry noted that through 2025 the eye doctors will grow and currently the eye doctors are 43,000 and by 2025 the doctors will grow to 48,000. Comprehensive eye exams and medical eye care, as of 2017 was 1.1% and this will gradually increase to 1.6 annually. In looking at these numbers, a supply shortage is expected. Not only will there be a supply shortage but also the optical retailers are seeing a gradual shift. The shift is due to more individuals are shopping online at some of the larger online retail names. Thus, the equilibrium price is ever changing. Due to the demand and supply as well as with the shift of the internet shopping, it does not seem that the equilibrium price will ever be consistent.

Answer #1

The passage is about the growing business of Optometry and Opthalmologists in the near future as there is an increased number of people facing vision issues and problems with eyes. This has happened as there is a rise in the time being spent by the people in front of television scree and other digital equipments. Kids start using mobile phones for reading texts and playing games at an early age and thus their vision gets affected. Teenagers and adults are also spending long time say 9-10 hours in a day in front of digital screen and affect their vision.

It is not only the growing usage of mobiles and laptops which is the main culprit, rather the change in the diet pattern of the people are also putting a toll on their vision. There is an overall low consumption of leafy vegetables and citrus fruits in the diet, thus affecting the vision. As there is a growing demand of opthalmologists because of increased number of patients there is a supply shortage in the market. Moreover, there is an increased level of purchasing of optical lenses and spectacles through online purchasing and thus thus has affected the demand and supply graph. As a result of shortage of supply and increased demand, the equillibrium price increases.
