Answer #1

There is gender and racial discrimination in the American economy. There is discrimination in the labor market. This is the key reason of inequality. The news media often reports discrimination suits. However there has been periods of reduction in discrimination.Research by Darity and Mason points out that Donohue and Heckman showed evidence that racial discrimination during the period 1965-1975 declined.During this period , statistical estimates show that discrimination against black males also declined.Discrimination against women also declined. Darity and Mason are of the opinion that lack of progress made since mid 1970 towards bringing equality in wages between the different races is enough proof that discrimination in the US labor market still persists. However conclusion was that labor market discrimination against black is negligible or non existant. What might appear as discrimination is that the employers give reward for the skill of the laborers.
