Use at least 500 words to answer the following question: Is U.S. membership in the WTO beneficial?

Undoubtedly WTO membership of any country is beneficial as it opens up its economy to do free trade benefit of consumers and import-using industries.

in terms of US, ofcourse it is beneficial to be a part of WTO as it promotes trade liberalization abroad, which opens markets and keeps them open for U.S. exporters. WTO agreements put those commitments in writing so there is less temptation for governments to backslide and re-impose damaging trade barriers under short-term political pressure. it is also noted that govt. cannot raises any tariffs beyond a certain limit prescribed by WTO, or if they violate other provisions designed to keep markets open, they will be vulnerable to challenge in the WTO dispute-settlement system.
