It is important for all microeconomic students to be able to apply concepts and theories addressed in the classroom to real-world issues and events. This project will have students reading the newspaper journals and identifying an article that addresses a real-world matter illustrative of a topic, concept, or theory addressed in class. Students will then write and submit a one-page summary and critical analysis of the article. In all, students are expected to submit 3 different summaries before the end of the semester. Read Economics, Business, and Finance, newspapers for both U.S. and World. Search the paper for an article of interest. This article should describe a real word issue, event, policy, labor issue, Fed or Congressional action or policy, or other matter that relates to a topic, concept, or theory presented in class or in the class readings. Editorial features and op-ed segments are prohibited. Students should survey the front page of the newspaper for lead stories.
