Why can’t we think long term? Well, we can of course, but short-term thinking is much more common and seems to have more influence in our behavior. People would not do things that have a long-term negative effect if we could be more rational.

In the view of keynese we all are dead in the long run. Thus most of people are concerned about the short run only. There is no fixed time line to fix the long run period. The society is undergoing the constant changes and these changes make the long run impossible. Thus every period seems to be short run and when we are about to reach the long run, the further changes make the long run again long distance away.

The even the rational entity also thinks similar way that long run might not reach easily. Thus they also more concerned about the short run frequently.
