From the perspective of the defeated nation, wartime destruction is an economic blessing. Hint: think Germany during both World Wars
This is true.
The defeated country knows that it has to start from zero; the government and people may join together by holding their hands to each other for recovering from damage. It becomes a stimulus process where everybody is working hard. Since all are unified, rebuilding activities become easier; even faster than normal economy; once it is faster, the economic growth becomes higher than average.
Such thing happens in case of Germany. Both the wars destructed the country very badly; but still they manage recovery; and recovered in a way that they have now better economical shape than Britain, although Britain was not in the losing side.
