Media consolidation means that fewer individuals have larger control over mass media . Transnational corporations are the ones which have their assets invested in other countries . Consumer welfare has increased in some cases and also suffered in few . Welfare here mostly depends on nationalism spirit . If media is used for spreading perfect unbiased information regarding the ecomony and goods and services then consumer welfare is ought to increase . While if media consolidation reduces clarity of information , corrupted media usage then it will reduce welfare . Transnational corporations provide employment in foreign countries , increase investment in the country , Noe if such corporations help to increase production and growth , then that will lead to consumer welfare .
