In the field of group dynamics, to what does status refer? How do high status members of a group tend to be treated?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In a group dynamic, status refers to the relative position or importance of a certain member or members. Not all members have the same level of weight or importance in a group. For example, certain highly skilled or experienced persons are given a higher status in the form of higher importance and relevance in the group.

The members with high status are given more importance and relevance in a group. Their opinions have a higher weight and they are given priority in many things. The members with high status also tend to be powerful and other members generally do not want to go against them. Therefore, the high-status members enjoy more relevance, significance, and authority in a group.
