1. Utilitarianism is when benefit of whole is considered greater than individual,this theory advocates happiness for society and world as a whole.
2. Issue at hand involves selling of stocks by certain before market crashed as senators were given certain information which helped them make this call violating many laws as well as ethical issue of using priveleged information and benefitting from same at expense of others.
3. As a utilitarian,I would look at is clear violation of betterment of society as a whole,in fact it is something where self interest breaks trust and responsibility.
4. This model lets people think whether people using priveleged information,using position of trust and responsibility to benefit off society 's troubles deserve to be in that position or not,it also let senators review their peers'actions and introspect why they were choosen.
