With the rise of out-sourcing government work to private-sector organizations, the debate arises as to what should remain a distinct responsibility of government and what can be outsourced to the private sector. Identify at least one public service that you believe the national government should NOT contract-out to private-sector organizations, OR identity at least one public service that is currently provided by the national government that you believe the national government SHOULD contract out or completely hand over to the private sector.

In the modern world, many things have been privatized. With privatization comes its own benefits and drawbacks. However, some essential or necessary goods can not be privatized like healthcare, water, sanitation. Let us take the example of water. The government should not privatize water because its a necessity to survive. If it is given to private players then the market price will be decided as per market forces of demand and supply. This may force some lower section of the society to leave the market which will make it hard to survive.

Conclusion: Necessity goods can not be privatized.
