A University wants to create an ER Diagram for its business model in the blank space provided below It provides the following business rules. All the relationship and cardinalities need to be shown properly based on the business rules given below. Any assumptions you make should be clearly mentioned.

  • Students can take many courses but will need to take at least one course.
  • Courses will have at least one but likely many students.
  • Student can rent up to 3 books but aren’t forced to rent any book if they don’t want.
  • Rented books can only be associated to one student.
  • Faculty can teach many courses but will need to teach at least one course.
  • Faculty have Dependents that are recorded by school in database so that these dependents such as wife, and kids can receive benefits assigned to faculty.
  • The dependents would be irrelevant if the faculty member no longer worked for the school.
  • Student can relate to only one department.
  • Departments are associated to many students.
  • Faculty can relate to only one department.
  • Departments are associated to many Faculty members.
  • One classroom can hold class for several courses. A course can be taught in one classroom only.
  • Classrooms might not always have a course being taught in them.
  • A faculty can purchase many Parking Passes, but they aren’t forced to buy it if they don’t want.
  • Exactly one faculty must be associated with all parking passes purchased by that faculty member.
  • Student can purchase only one Parking Pass, but they aren’t force to buy it if they don’t want.
  • Only one student can be associated with parking pass.
