Why is the United States not a pure democracy
In a pure democracy, People decide on policy initiative directly without any intermediary. When people vote for their representative and that representative enact policy initiative that is called representative democracy.
in the united states, many states (ex. Alaska, Arizona, California, Michigan, ....etc) allow direct initiative but many states(ex. Maine, Nevada Ohio .. etc) do not allow direct initiatives. some of the states allow some initiatives directly and some initiative indirectly. So, United States is not a pure democracy.
