Why were so many of the fifteenth-century European explorers from Southern Europe?
(places like Portugal, Spain and, what is today called, Italy)
There are number of factors that led to the exploration from Southern Europe where one reason is the economic reason where the Europeans were really interested in finding the sea routes to India as they need the spices and other precious things from the country. After that the sense of nationalism also drove them further like the pride will be high if one country's explorer found the sea route to a place. Apart from that also the technological advancements in terms of ships and equipment enabled them all in all.
