Period between 1870 and world war is marked by major and substantial changes in political, social and economic areas. This is known as era of reconstruction and progress.

Average income of Americans between 1870 and 1900 increased over 66 % and great strides were achieved in industrial and agricultural sector. Huge immigration was witnessed during this period. Over 27 million people migrated from Europe through this period.

North and western parts of US progressed phenomenally. Civil rights were protected through the law but later on civil rights were not protected equally. Discriminated class was categorized as second class citizens. Women rights were protected during this period. labor class was protected against the exploitation by the industrial class.
