Cultural revolution from 1966 to 1976 was a socio political movement led by Mao zedong in China, which aimed to preserve the prevailing communist ideology by eroding out capitalist thoughts and revoking Maoist dominant ideology in China. This revolution marks the come back of Mao to power after the Great leap foward, which was th second five year plan in China and an attempt to grow agriculture and set up industrial base.
one of the major aims of cultural revolution was to involve the ordinary village people into village politics so that village leaders which were practising minor corruption during the great leap forward could lose power over ordinary villagers and the local government can supervise them more efficiently. Many farmers were involved at different levels of government. also urban population supported the rural participation.
