The single left right dimension means the dimension scale where the political parties place themselves to appeal to the voters.

This placement of parties shows their ideological beliefs and what they propose in their agenda which will attract voters to vote for them.

For example, suppose their is a scale from 0-10 where 0 represents extreme left and 10 represents extreme right.

Now, parties will place themselves on this scale and voters will then come and spread evenly on this scale, also known as the left right dimension. They will vote depending upon how much they relate to the party propaganda. Since the voters are evenly spread, they can move left and right to go for the one they relate the most.

So, in this game, the parties are the players

Their position on left right dimension is their strategy

And the votes are their payoffs
