Suppose your neighborhood wants to apply for a geographical indication on the production of your local cat milk cheese. What can you advise your community for applying for a geographical indication?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans- Geographical indication's main motive is that- It is important that the product derives its qualities and reputation from that place. A geographical indication (GI) is a name or sign used on products which corresponds to a specific geographical location or origin.

Since the qualities depend on the geographical place of production, there is a clear link between the product and its original place of production. So i will advice the community to apply in rural areas where they can easily create a link between the place of production and can earn reputation from that place.
