Should Diversity in Advertising be mandated by the government or should it be up to each individual company to manage? Explain your answer in detail.
The diversity should be such that individual companies should have enough freedom of media to sell a product. But some amount of government regulation is also necessary to discourage such companies to not be deceptive in advertisements for sale of goods and services. Government jurisdiction is necessary to enforce false advertisement laws and fact checking, otherwise , companies could have too much freedom to manipulate consumers. Hence, the approach should be a mixed one with government mandates plus individual company management for advertising.
