Do you think there will be a decrease in the number of individuals being eligible for Medicaid in the near future? Explain.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The number of individuals being eligible for Medicaid in the near future will decrease upon raising the eligibility age from 65 to 67. The number will also decrease due to requirement of work or work-related activities as a condition for the eligibility. The proposals made by the states to make work as the requirement will lead to loss of health coverage for low-income adults. There will be loss or interruption in coverage in case of fluctuation in working hours from month to month which may sometimes fall below the thresholds required by the law.
