Answer #1

the easter island environmental catastrophe includes extinction of Around 1400 the Easter Island palm due to overharvesting. Also, Much damage and soil erosion observable today on the island was done after the European colonization, especially with the introduction of large livestock that increased significantly soil erosion in the 20th century. This all could have been stoped if the excess cutting of trees on the island would haave been stopped earlier.other than that the population increase on the island should have been stopped which would have decreased the pressure on farmers to feed this increasing population. There was a case when the barren volcanic rocks could no longer sustain agriculture production and soon the farmers were no longer able to feed the population.

Hence all these basic measures would have helped to stop the unfolding environmental catastrophe on easter islands.
