Yes egalitarian societies also fail because they are forced to exist in an economic system that is predominantly capitalist because:

1. capitalism is defined as system when working of a state is under the control of private sector and there is no government intervention.
2. the private sector is dominated by few rich industrialists the capitalist work for their profits and development rather than social development which increases inequality in the society
3. Under capitalism rich people become richer while poor become poorer.
4. Egalitarian societies are those societies which give equality to everyone but under capitalism it started vanishing.  
5. Capitalism is more focused on getting private or individual benefits under which forced Egalitarian societies can not survive.
