Is there a reasonable compromise between the two systems? Explain.

Judges should be appointed using a judicial selection commission that evaluates and recommends individuals to the governor for appointment. After 3-4 years of appointment, they should stand for retention election. Bar association should have some role in the recommendation.

This also saves election cost. Election and fundraising create conflicts. Election depends on accountability of people. Election creates the appearance of justice for sale.

So, appointment and then retention election is a better way. This the compromise.
