Of the non-tariff barriers, absolute quota, tariff-rate quota, license on-demand allocation, export quotas, domestic content requirements, subsidies, dumping, government procurement policies, and social regulations which one(s) would you prefer the U.S. to pursue if they are going to attempt some protectionism? Why? Which one(s) appear to be the most costly and/or disruptive?

It can be mentioned that absolute quote can be the best attempt to protectionism and this is because of the fact that the import will be restricted without disruption in price which might not lead to a price war but reduces the amount of imports triggering demand for domestic goods. Subsidies can be regarded as the most costly affair because this actually incurs a cost to the government all in all where the government has to bear a certain burden in order to make the domestic industry flourish
