How would you begin to address the problem of child labor in Pakistan when so many poor families count on the income of their children to survive?
I would first address the acute poverty level in the country. When households have a very low income, they think it is better to let their young children work and earn rather than going to school. Economic growth needs to reach to the poorest section of the society so that the basic needs of food and shelter are fulfilled. When we can reach a minimum income level for each household, then children will be sent to schools rather than to small factories and shops to work.
