Early each month, U.S. Department of Labor, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announces the total number of unemployment in the country for the previous month, along with various characteristics about them. Each month, well trained and experienced employees of Census Bureau contact the 60,000 eligible sample households and enquire about the labor force activities (inclusive of job seeking and jobholding) or non-labor force status of the members of such households during the reference week of survey (generally the week that is inclusive of the 12th of the month).
