Some people criticize mainstream thinking about the environment for being anthropocentric (i.e., taking a human-oriented view that values nature strictly in terms of the benefits it provides to people). In your opinion, does nature have an intrinsic value that exists apart from its relationship to humans? Do we, as human beings, need to change the way we look at the natural world?

Answer #1

The given vision is something highly dependent on the perspectives where according to the opinion of the environmentalists, there has to be some other relationship that is existing between nature and other components of the biosphere apart from humans which we call it as the intrinsic value and this can be seen even before the evolution of mankind. This is the reason why it is very important to understand why one has to view nature differently rather than the benefits it provides to the mankind where it is important for the survival of other parts of the ecosystems on the whole and this should be viewed as a a personal responsibility so that the nature will be understood in the way it has to be
