The first amendment of the U.S. constitution allows for freedom of speech for common citizens and the press, freedom of expression, and right to peaceful assembly.
Peacefully protesting for a just cause should be welcomed, and in fact promoted.
However, in the entire constitution violent protest is no where mentioned, or in other words, violent protest is neither allowed, nor promoted in any manner.
What we have been seeing all across the country is a mix of violent and peaceful protest. In such times, it is very difficult to differentiate between a violent and a peaceful protest.
