In some countries, people born on national territory donot automatically obtain the nationality of their birthplace, and may have no legal title of residency. In this case they are left to illegally immigrate to other countries as they have no official documents about their nationality. For instance the Rohingyas of Mayanmar. Also the Immigrants from countries that do not have automatic visa agreements, or who would not otherwise qualify for a visa, often cross the borders illegally.
