Answer #1

Total outstanding borrowings of a government is known as the national debt . The main aim of political parties are to win elections . This political agenda is carried out through alluring voters towards a particular party in a democracy . The confidence of voters on a prticular party can assure the victory of that party . Political parties are so polarized and so unwilling to lose elections that they avoid the necessary compromises on taxes and spending that would reduce the debt . Increasing taxes or reducing welfare spending both can bring negative public reactions towards a party . Although they discuss on reduction of debt but their actions work oppositely .

Dealing with debt should be made a apolitical phenomenon . A separate wing of elected officials should deal with debt totally unbiased of any political agenda .
