Kansas - Nebraska Act allowed people of Kansas and Nebraka to decide if they want slavery to continue within their territory or not. But such act of congress was not supported by Lincoln for following reasons:

  • Act was aimed at continuing the institution of slavery.
  • it was against the spirit of democracy. it was likely to make integration difficult in near future.
  • it erupted violence between pro slavery group and ant-slavery group. Death tolls increased significantly.
