Bundle A consists of 6 units of the consumption good when you’re young and 12 units when you’re old and Bundle B consists of 4 units of the consumption good when you’re young and 10 units when old. True or false: if given a choice, you will always choose Bundle B.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Statement is false as consumer if given a choice will choose bundle A compared to bundle B as it include more of the consumption goods in both periods i.e. when young and when old. Bundle A include 6 units of consumption goods when young while bundle B only include 4 units of consumption goods when young and bundle A consists of 12 units of consumption goods when old while bundle B consists of only 10 units of consumption goods when old. Since, bundle A have more of goods consumed when young and old than bundle B , consumer will choose bundle A not bundle B.

Consider an economy in which there are 100 workers. One-half of the workers are endowed with 200 units of the consumption good when young and nothing when old. The remaining workers are endowed with 20 units of the consumption good when young and nothing when old. Each worker saves 30 percent of their endowment when young. Let the gross real return on capital be 1.25. Money supply grows according to following rule: Mt=1.1Mt-1. Assume that each worker uses 10 goods...

1.) Suppose if the price of a good is $12, the quantity demanded is 50 units; when the price is $10, the quantity demanded is 100 units. Use the midpoint approach to compute the price elasticity of demand. Is demand at this point relatively responsive or relatively unresponsive to price changes? 2.) For this exercise you will need to first build a graph to these specifications: Draw a downward sloping demand curve with vertical intercept (0,4) and horizontal intercept (8,0)....

Brian consumes units of electricity (E) and a composite good (Y), whose price is always 1. he likes both goods. in period 1 the power company sets the price of electricity at $7 per unit, for all units of electricity consumed. Brian consumes his optimal basket, 20 units of electricity and 70 units of the composite good. in period 2 the power company then revises its pricing plan, charging $10 per unit for the first 5 units and $4 per...
