As the U.S. and other Western Nations move to more governmental or socialized healthcare will the marketing function survive?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Marketing function will survive, because government based health care services can only provide services up to a certain level and of quality that cannot suit to those classes of people who are affluent or who can avail the privately owned health care. Here, marketing starts playing an important role because it can promote exclusive services, that many come at a cost, but ensures superior quality. As a result, it builds high value and positive branding among those people who can avail it. So, marketing helps healthcare service providers to attract premium segment, serve them and create value. Hence, there is always an opportunity and scope of work for the marketing function, even if the government becomes the major service provider, but government has its own constraints in delivering quality to the masses.
