To substantiate this claim, the committee randomly samples 12 student lab visits and notes the amount of time spent using the computer, the times in minutes are as follows: 52, 57, 54, 76, 62, 52, 74, 53, 67, 73, 58, 62 If the previous average amount of time spent using the lab was 55 minutes, at 95% confidence, has there been a change? Use any method.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

As we can see the previous average amount of time spent using lab was 55 minutes with a 95% confidence level. So in order to know the new average, we will calculate the average of the samples of students using lab in minutes:

Time Samples(in Minutes)
52
57
54
76
62
52
74
53
67
73
58
62
Total=740

Average Minutes

740 Minutes/12 samples

So the average time is 61.67 minutes which is more than previous average time which was 55 minutes. So it is clear that new average time is more i.e. 61.67 minutes.
