  • A publication (which is either a book or a recording, but not both) is identified by its catalog number, and it additionally has a title. Every publication is produced by a publisher on some date, where the date consists of a month and a year.
  • A publisher, identified by name, has offices in one or more cities. A publisher may be owned by another publisher. A publisher may own several other publishers. A publisher may produce several publications.
  • Two properties for a recording are its medium (e.g., tape or CD) and its duration.
  • A book has a format and a page count. A book may be assigned to at most one editor. An editor may have several assigned books.

An editor has a unique SSN, a name, a birth date, an age, and one or more specialties. An editor must work for at least one publisher, and a publisher may have several editors to work for it. For each editor-publisher pair, an annual income is recorded
