1. Database Encryption helps in protecting the data from unauthorized access. It also reduces the risk of the data being compromised or hacked. It is very important to encrypt database in order to protect sensitive information or personal information being accessed by unauthorized personnel. If data is hacked it also results in financial loss, thus providing further reasons to encrypt and protect the data.
Apparently Academic Database does not contain as much sensitive information as a banking database or a medical database. However, Academic Database still contains personal identifiable information like address, phone number etc. Sometimes it might also contain payment details / bank / card information of students and teachers.
