First Part:

Portal can be described as a user interface platform which stores data electronically, interact with the user and provides various personal and professional information related to the user. It can provide a set of services and information based on user interaction.

Second Part:

Every portal has one three components:

(i) Front end application.

(ii) Back end section.

(iii) Database.

The back-end logic holds the entire logic or code for functioning of the portal. The front end provides the user interface and the data is stored or updated in the database underlying. When any action is performed, the update information or new data is stored in the database used by the portal.
