by statistical method we look at detecting univariate outliers based on normal distribution. To apply this method within SAS Enterprise Miner, how would you set up the Filter node?

Answer #1

The filter node can be set up using the node tool on the sample tab in the toolbar of Enterprise Miner.

The filter can be easily set up once the variables to be used in the output table have been selected. There are many drop down lists.

From the first list, a variable for the data is selected.

Then an operator is selected from the second list. Operators can be OR, AND, etc.

If only rows are to be retrieved and a match case can be created.

Changes can be customized accordingly and can be saved.

This will set up a specific filter.

Generate a data set from a normal distribution. Then you can apply bootstrap method to the generated data to obtain the empirical distribution of the coefficient of variation: sample standard deviation over sample mean, that is cv = s/¯ x. Describe this distribution. Also please describe the algorithm and attach the R code

How can we tell if a set of data follows a normal distribution? Explain how each of the following is useful in helping us determine whether or not data have a normal distribution. 1. Making a histogram 2. Checking for outliers 3. Making a box-and-whisker plot

Parametric statistical procedures are based on a number of "statistical assumptions" that need to be met in order for the conclusions drawn to be valid. One of these statistical assumptions is that the distribution of the population data from which the sample is drawn meets the definition of a “normal distribution”. A first step in data analysis is to first check to see if there is evidence that the statistical assumptions have been met. This involves the researcher reviewing the...

Many statistical methods and techniques we are looking at are intrinsically related and/or provide different views at the same underlying phenomena. This week you read about contingency tables. As we discussed, this is a way to examine possible association between two (categorical) variables. An example we have considered was association between patient's sex and remission status. We know other methods for testing for associations (not necessarily perfectly fit for the specific problem). Can you think about setting up a linear...

Many statistical procedures require that we draw a sample from a population whose distribution is approximately normal. Often we don’t know whether the population is approximately normal when we draw the sample. So the only way we assess whether the population is approximately normal is to examine its sample. Assessing normality is more important for small samples. Below, you’ll see some small samples and you’ll be asked to assess whether the populations they are drawn from can be treated as...

a) Suppose we were not sure if the distribution of a population was normal. In which of the following circumstances would we NOT be safe using a t procedure? A. Mean: 12.96 mm Standard Deviation: 0.87 mm Assuming that these data conform to a normal distribution, calculate the following: a. What would be the Z-Score for 14.2 mm in length? b. What percentage of a large set of examples would fall between 11.4mm and 14.8 mm? c. Assuming that we have access to a sample of 4,593 examples, how many would we expect to fall within the above range?

That means that we are letting standard deviation be one. That is, the normal distribution is...
