What is the relationship between swap time and the quantum for which the process is expected to have control of CPU?

Answer #1

Ans. Swap time and quantum are usually use for context switching between processes, so, the relationship between swap time and the quantum for which the process is expected to have control are :-

  1. During, context switching the user does not have control over this switches. Sometimes, at a particular time context switch time is overstated as, due to that particular time kernel decides to handle interrupts. So, in that time swapping of one process to another takes place to control the overstating of time.
  2. Whereas, quantum is the process which takes place between task switching for example, if quantum is small it means time is spent in task switches instead of doing useful work. So, the quantum should be large in any context switching.
