Differentiate the purposes of historical and real-time monitoring.

Differentiate the purposes of historical and real-time monitoring.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Historical monitoring:

The purpose of historical monitoring is to monitor or refresh data at a slower rate.

This method is suitable for forecasting. As services related to forecasting donot need real time analysis, historical monitoring does the job.

Real time monitoring:

Real time monitoring refreshes data as a faster rate with low or zero latency. It is important when there is a nee of realtime data which is refreshed every other second.

For example, dashboards follow real time monitoring as it is needed by project managers to support strategy.

The main purpose of real time monitoring is to analyse the trends and help in avoiding the past mistakes and also provides visual data about the current trends. Which is really important in formulation of strategies and accurate decision making.
