YES, there is a incident where Finger Alteration Not Only Fail , but was detected :

• When we Set a Finger Print lock in our smart mobile phone :

1. If we put the correct  finger print or registered finger print then lock is Open.

  2. BUT,  if we put the wrong finger print which is not registered then lock is not opened it give Fail Authentication.   

  Here, Finger authentication fail but also Detected the wrong finger print or finger alteration.

  

3. Here Phone lock not open due to WRONG finger Alteration, Because its Detect the wrong Identication.

so, here by this incident we come to  know that when finger Alteration not only fail but was detected.
