The following is the appropriate setting for the home directory for sharing some directory but we do not want others to browse, add or remove entries in the home directory:

The 711 permission means that the user can read, write and execute. The groups cannot read, cannot write but can execute. The others i.e. public cannot read, cannot write but can execute. This means that when we don't want anyone else to browse, add or remove entries in your home directory we should go for 711.
