Internet protocol is the method that governs how computers data sharing across a network. When one computer sends data such as an email or web form, its message gets parsed into packets that contain the sending computer Internet address, the receiving computer address, and part of the message.

Each protocol have various functions so because of that they have to fmillier with Internet protocol.
