  • CSMA/CD is  Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection
  • It is a protocol that will eliminate collision entirely in multiple access to a shared media channel.
  • In this protocol all process is monitor at every stage.when a packet is sent it will make sure that packet will reach at the end until it will not allow sending next packet.

Advantages of CSMA/CD :

  • It detects a collision in very little time.
  • If a collision occurs it will again send a packet after the channel is free.

Disadvantages of CSMA/CD :

  • It cannot reduce the collision between two nodes of channels.
  • Not suitable for large networks.
