how to Manage Folders and File Structures?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Managing folders/file structures:

  • When an application program is installed, the default location for the file should be used. Usually this location resides in the directory.
  • All the documents should be kept in the root folder.
  • If a file sharing feature is used, one root folder can be created manually.
  • Logical hierarchy should be used for all the folders.
  • Folders should be named using simple meaningful names so that they can be identified easily.
  • Folders should be nested when required.
  • Naming conventions should be used while naming folders. Descriptive names should be used but not overboard names.
  • Only underscore should be used, if need be, as a special character.
  • Folders should be ordered in a list form.
  • All the files should be saved immediately to avoid loss of data.
  • File should be save in the respective folder.
