Homework Answers

Answer #1

1a)

Network address for this network = 192.168.184.224

Given IP is : 192.168.184.227 = 11000000. 10101000 .10111000.11100011

Subnet mask : 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111000

If we apply AND operation between given ip and subnet mask we get "network address".

After applying AND operation we get

11000000.10101000.10111000.11100000

= 192.168.184.224

2a)

Given ip is :192.168.184.227

So,the first ip is default gateway.

Default gateway for this server = 193.168.184.225

3a)

Because ,the subnet mask provides the number of bits to use for the network portion of an address. The network address cannot be determined without it.
