conditional formatting is used to highlight certain kind of data with different styles so based on conditions if you want apply styles than we use conditional formats

Example:

Assume you have sheet with student marks so now you want have green color for all cells who are passed and red color cells for all who failed. with this it will be clear for us to separate the data
