Explain the functional use and implementation for a domain controller in an enterprise environment

The main functional use of domain cotroller is to enforse the security for the domain by restricitng unauthorised and unrecognised access to the windows domain. In other words domain controller is the central server which responds whenever the authentication request is made to the particular domain. It is the server in windows server and sevrver NT which is mainly responsible for the access of the domain resources to the users requested from the other domains.

It is the main part in the windows Active Directory service. It allows or restricts the users and also will store user account information. For ex If the user from the aother domain requests resources from this domain in this case domain controller will establish trusted relationship betweem these domains.

If at all the domain controller fails because of any issues. The alternative or backup domain controller to take of the domain is always there. The administrator will maintain this backup domain controller and he will make this domain controller will take up the job of the actual one.
