How is GRUB related to the bootstrap program?
Answer)
GRUB or better known as the GNU GRUB is the program is the boot
loader which is used in the computer for users to have more than
one operating system and is a multiboot specification. The GRUB is
used as the program to choose the OS which runs when the computer
starts. When the computer is on in the initial startup phase, the
computer BIOS finds the primary bootable device which is generally
the computer disk, then loads the initial bootstrap program from
the MBR.
Here the MBR is the one which contains the GRUB Stage 1, Stage 1 then loads Stage 1.5 or Stage 2 directly. On the selection of the boot OS, the GRUB is used for loading the selected OS kernel on the memory of the computer and then pass the control from there to the kernel. Thus GRUB is related to the bootstrap program directly in the above processing of multi-boot systems.
