Answer #1

Software engineering can be said as a super set of web and mobile app development, because a software engineer is a person who builds softwares, it can be a desktop application, a web application or a mobile application. Web developers are those software engineer who specialises or specifically develops web applications only. Similarly, mobile app developers develop mobile applications only. These both are sub category of software engineers only and hence we can use this instead of using there specialisation.

The other word which we can use for software engineer is computer programmer.

The term 'software engineer' was coined by Anthony Oettinger.
